although the difference is that miaka is not the main hero anymore. tamahome is still there %26amp; the rest of the celestial warriors but there is a twist in the story. i dont want to spoil the story line for you but then needless to say that since miaka is not the main character then it would be a tad different from the romantic-comedy theme of fushigi yuugi....

^_^`|||Fushigi Yuugi manga Volumes 1-12 = TV Series %26amp; Volumes 13-18 = OVA 2. Notice OVA 1 never happened in the comics. After that Nishizaki Megumi with Watase Yuu and wrote 13 novels each Suzaku seishi (7), Ami/Suboshi(1), Nakago(1), Taka %26amp; Miaka (2)[Eidoken], and what happened between TV %26amp; OVA 2 (2).

|||Well technically Eidoken is also considered OVA 3. If you are thinking about it compared to OVA 1and OVA 3, yes there's a difference, but technically it is an OVA too. Just think of it as a continuation; It still continues on the same time line and continues to show how the book world as changed since OVA 1 and 2.
Yes they are two different things. You would watch OVA 1, then OVA 2, and then Eidoken. As the girl below me mentioned, Miaka is not the main character anymore, but the same general idea is happening again.
